Odd Fellow Manor-Hearthside Apartments, Platteville, WI
Odd Fellow Manor was built in 1987 in Platteville as an apartment building for people 55 and over with no income requirements. The complex was named after the Hearthside Hotel that previously occupied the site.
The $1.3 million complex has three stories and consists of 22 apartments, 11 one bedroom and 11 two bedroom units. Four of the apartments have an option room which is a room that is smaller than a bedroom and can be used as an office or a sewing room. The building also contains a community center, a dining room and a lodge hall.
The first floor has five apartments, the dining room and the lodge hall. On the second floor there are eight apartments and the community room. The community room was designed for small social gatherings and any of the tenants can reserve the room for private parties. The community room also has a kitchen, a cloak room and a restroom.
The remainder of the apartments are on the third floor. Every floor has a laundry room and a janitor's room. Funding for the project was by the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin with no government subsidies or support.
